FMOD interactive audio software expands Bose Audio Technology capabilities

FRAMINGHAM, Mass., Oct. 1, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Bose Corporation, a global leader in audio innovation and research, today announced it has acquired Firelight Technologies, maker of FMOD, an interactive audio software platform. The acquisition brings FMOD’s proven technology to Bose, creating new opportunities for gaming and helping power the next generation of immersive experiences.

FMOD is widely used by game developers around the world, giving them the tools to create audio that responds to what’s happening in the game in real time. The platform will remain open and broadly supported, with a strong commitment to its developers, partners, and customers. Bose will continue investing in FMOD and its community and, over time, will explore longer-term opportunities in areas such as VR/AR, automotive, and other applications that increasingly rely on interactive audio.
