Veriv, the financial verification network, today announced a new investment from Rockmont Partners and two additions to its board of directors: Brian Fox, who will serve as Board Chair, and Christopher Schellhorn, both industry veterans with experience scaling financial verification businesses.

Rockmont joins existing investors Renvent Holdings and Sunriver Capital Partners, strengthening Veriv’s backing as it accelerates its next phase of growth. The investment follows a series of senior leadership appointments across commercial, product, technology, security and implementation, adding the expertise needed to scale Veriv’s established network across industries and international markets.

“Veriv brings together two teams who have spent their careers solving the same problem: getting trusted financial data to the people who need it, securely and with the customer’s consent,” said Sean Dunlea, Chief Executive Officer of Veriv. “Brian Fox and Chris Schellhorn transformed audit confirmations with Confirmation.com, and Tim Portley and I built bankVOD to do the same for consumer, government, mortgage and QC verifications. Joining forces under Veriv is a milestone for all of us, and I’m thrilled to be building the next chapter alongside them.”

Fox founded Confirmation.com, the audit confirmation platform acquired by Thomson Reuters in 2019, and Schellhorn served as its Chairman and CEO. Before Confirmation.com, Schellhorn was President and CEO of VISA Interactive. Together, they bring deep experience building financial verification infrastructure and developing relationships across financial institutions and the businesses that depend on them.

“I’ve spent my career building networks that connect financial institutions across borders,” said Christopher Schellhorn, Veriv board member. “The opportunity now is to bring that same network approach to all financial verifications — one trusted, source-verified connection that reaches institutions wherever they operate.”

Veriv connects organizations that need financial verifications with the institutions that hold the underlying data. Operating in more than 70 countries, its network uses patent-pending adaptive delivery technology to reach institutions through their existing response channels and return answers proven at the source. API connectivity adds real-time, system-to-system exchange, and the Model Context Protocol (MCP) lets clients connect their own AI agents to Veriv and request verification directly from the source.

That matters as financial institutions confront growing concern about AI agents accessing their systems. Veriv offers a different path: clients’ agents request verification through Veriv — subject to the appropriate authorization and controls — without unrestricted access to institution systems, and answers come straight from the institution that holds the data.

“Twenty years ago, we set out to do one thing: confirm audit balances directly with the source,” said Brian Fox, Board Chair of Veriv. “Today, consequential financial decisions across industries depend on the same principle: data verified directly with the institution that holds it. As the systems making those decisions become more intelligent and autonomous, that data layer foundation becomes non-negotiable. Veriv is extending source-verified financial data across an increasingly automated financial world.”

With this new investment, an expanded board and a growing leadership team, Veriv is scaling its established network to support financial verification across industries and international markets.
