America250, the national, nonpartisan organization charged by Congress to lead the commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, today reminded individual Americans that less than one month remains to submit their estimated volunteer hours through America Gives by December 1, 2026 to be eligible for its $1 million giveaway. Through the America Gives National Giveaway, 250 randomly selected Americans will each have the opportunity to donate $4,000 to one of America250’s approved 501(c)(3) Founding Partner charities.
The final push comes as America Gives surpasses 90 million volunteer service hours served by Americans in 2026, building on the 10 million hours the initiative recorded by June and moving the nation closer to making 2026 the largest year of volunteer service in American history.
Launched on January 1, 2026, America Gives invites individuals, nonprofits, schools, companies, faith communities, civic organizations and local leaders to pledge service, log volunteer hours and find opportunities to give back in their communities. From food drives and mentoring programs to neighborhood cleanups, disaster relief and veteran support, Americans have spent the Semiquincentennial celebrating via service.
“Throughout our nation’s 250th year, Americans in every state and territory have answered the call to serve, and the hours they have put in reflect the generosity and civic spirit that have always defined this country,” said Rosie Rios, Chair of America250. “With less than one month left, we encourage every American who has volunteered this year to log those hours with America Gives. Each hour adds to a historic national total and offers the chance to direct a donation to a charity strengthening communities across the country.”
How to Get Involved
Americans who have volunteered any amount in 2026 can log their estimated volunteer hours at America250.org/America-Gives by entering their volunteer activity details directly into the America Gives portal. A live national counter tracks the collective hours of service across all 50 states, five territories and Washington, D.C. Participants can also share stories and photos of their volunteer experiences.
For those looking to contribute before the December 1 deadline, America Gives also connects Americans with volunteer opportunities based on their location and interests. Through America250’s National Resource Partner, Points of Light, and other participating organizations, individuals can find ways to give back in their communities.
To be eligible for the America Gives National Giveaway, participants must submit their volunteer hours by 11:59 p.m. ET on December 1, 2026. America250 will announce the 250 winners in December. For more information on America Gives, to log volunteer hours or to review the official sweepstakes rules, visit America250.org/America-Gives.
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. Ends 11:59 p.m. ET on 12/1/26. Open to U.S. only, 13+. See Official Rules for full details including how to enter, eligibility requirements, and prize description/restrictions. Void where prohibited.
