Will Cocos has been appointed Executive Vice President and General Manager of its U.S. Government business. Cocos will lead Vantor’s work across the U.S. defense, intelligence and civil government communities, with a focus on accelerating the delivery of mission-ready capabilities to warfighters and other operators.
Cocos has served as Vantor’s Chief Transformation Officer since 2023, helping shape the company’s strategy and expand its spatial intelligence capabilities. Over the past year, he has helped drive growth in Vantor‘s international business, including supporting the company’s partners in conflict zones. That work has given him firsthand insight into how rapidly evolving battlefields are changing customer needs and what it takes to move technology into operational use quickly.
Cocos brings that perspective to Vantor’s U.S. Government business as missions grow more complex and decision timelines shrink. Warfighters, commanders, analysts and civil government users need more than just data; they need trusted intelligence delivered fast enough to act. They also require technology that works where the mission happens — from contested tactical environments to disaster response and humanitarian operations.
“My priority is getting the right capabilities into the hands of U.S. warfighters, analysts and other mission users faster,” said Cocos. “Vantor has an incredible team with deep technical expertise and dedication to the mission. We need to stay relentlessly focused on what our customers need, including sustaining what they rely on today, removing friction and moving new technology into operational use. That means building for real-world conditions: under time pressure, at the edge and in environments where connectivity or GPS cannot be assumed.”
Vantor is uniquely positioned to meet this need through Tensorglobe™, its AI-powered spatial intelligence platform, which turns complex sources of data into intelligence operators can use. Built on Vantor’s highly accurate global 2D and 3D spatial foundation, Tensorglobe integrates data from Vantor’s industry-leading satellite constellation with sovereign and commercial sources to maintain a trusted, continuously updated picture of the operating environment. The platform uses AI to automate key parts of the intelligence cycle and deliver mission-ready intelligence across secure enterprise and edge environments. The result is faster decisions for missions ranging from persistent monitoring and mission planning to space domain awareness and real-time tactical operations.
“Will brings a rare combination of firsthand operational experience, transformation leadership and a deep understanding of where Vantor is headed,” said Dan Smoot, Vantor CEO. “He understands what it means to rely on intelligence in high-consequence environments, and he knows how to turn strategy and advanced technology into capabilities that work in the real world. Vantor already plays a critical role across U.S. government missions. Will is the right leader to build on that position, deepen our customer partnerships and ensure our technology translates into decision advantage.”
Vantor currently supports U.S. government missions at significant scale. Vantor powers 90% of the foundational geospatial intelligence used by the U.S. government and operates GEGD Pro, NGA’s primary commercial GEOINT platform, serving more than 1.2 million government users across 250+ organizations. Vantor also supports the U.S. Army’s One World Terrain program with high-fidelity 3D terrain for training, mission rehearsal and execution, and holds multiple NGA Luno contracts applying automated analysis to support persistent monitoring, change detection and space domain awareness.
In civil government, Vantor supports NASA’s Commercial Satellite Data Acquisition program, providing high-resolution geospatial data for Earth observation, research and rapid response to events such as natural disasters.
Cocos began his career as a U.S. Navy SEAL officer and is a combat veteran of the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. Before joining Vantor, he held several general management, commercial and transformation roles in the technology sector. He was also a partner at Boston Consulting Group, where he led large-scale transformations of Fortune 500 companies in the engineered products sector.
