KALAMAZOO, MI, UNITED STATES, August 6, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Stone Coat Countertops, an industry leader in DIY coating and finishing systems, has launched APEX, a countertop coating system engineered specifically for white and light-colored countertop designs. Built on aliphatic polyaspartic technology, the system is the result of more than 70 development iterations and targets long-term color stability in surfaces that have historically been the most vulnerable to yellowing.
The launch is detailed in a new company resource, “The Future of White Countertops: Redefining What’s Possible With Stone Coat APEX,” published on the Stone Coat Countertops website.
A Persistent Challenge in White Countertop Design
White and light-colored countertops remain among the most requested looks in kitchen and bath remodeling, prized for their bright, clean aesthetic and broad compatibility with different design styles. Decorative coating systems made that look achievable without the cost of natural stone, but white and light-colored surfaces have carried a consistent limitation: even subtle discoloration is visible on bright surfaces in a way it isn’t on darker ones. UV exposure, heat, and oxidation gradually alter the chemical structure of standard epoxy coatings, producing the amber tint commonly known as yellowing.
A Different Chemical Foundation
Standard epoxy systems have improved over time through additives and UV inhibitors, but those measures work within the limits of epoxy chemistry itself. APEX takes a different approach by building the system around aliphatic polyaspartic chemistry from the start, rather than modifying an epoxy base after the fact. The coating is designed to be poured thick, mimicking the depth and movement of natural stone. UV chamber testing completed by Stone Coat indicates 20+ years of color stability for the system, even under direct sunlight.
A Complete 4-Part System
APEX consists of four components designed to work as a single system:
1. APEX Poly Fuse Countertop Primer, which bonds to surfaces including laminate, tile, cultured marble, granite, and MDF.
2. APEX Poly White Countertop Dye, which delivers the pure white tone and visual depth behind the finished look.
3. APEX Polyaspartic Countertop Coating, the UV-stable layer that provides the system’s clarity and durability.
4. APEX Surface Control Finishing Spray, which promotes bubble release and surface flow for a seamless finish.
APEX can be applied over existing countertops, including existing epoxy surfaces, provided the substrate is solid, stable, and properly prepared. It is not intended for use over failing substrates, loose material, peeling coatings or surfaces that are not structurally sound. The system reaches full cure in approximately seven days.
The launch gives homeowners and professionals a dedicated option for white and light-colored countertop projects, where long-term color stability has traditionally required a tradeoff against aesthetic goals.
